Sr. Associate AD, Development
Casey Cegles was hired as ODU’s Senior Associate Athletic Director in October of 2021.
Cegles' role at ODU will consist of overseeing both annual and major gift fundraising operations for the athletics foundation.
Cegles arrived from Kent State University where he was the Deputy Athletics Director. In his role, he assisted the Director of Athletics with the day-to-day operations of the athletic department and helped lead the administrative team. He also provided oversight of external operations, fundraising initiatives, as well as being the sport supervisor for the football and men's and women's basketball programs.
Casey is quite familiar with Old Dominion University as, prior to Kent State, he spent three years fundraising for the Old Dominion Athletic Foundation (ODAF). Cegles began as the assistant director of the ODAF in 2012 and was quickly promoted to director of the athletic foundation in 2013. After assisting the foundation in setting all-time highs in dollars raised and total memberships, he was promoted again to the director of major gifts.
Prior to his time at Old Dominion, Cegles spent three years at Virginia Commonwealth University working in corporate sales and ticket operations.
Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Cegles grew up around college athletics as his father, Vic Cegles, recently retired after nearly 40 years in athletics administrator. Additionally, Casey’s brother Victor, is currently the Deputy Athletics Director at the University at Albany.
Casey earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Towson University where he was a four-year member of the football team. He went on to earn a Master of Education from the Center for Sport Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Casey and his wife, Emily, reside in Norfolk with their dog Charlie.
